HOLIDAY WASTE COLLECTION

Dear Councillor

I thought I would drop you a quick courtesy email regarding waste collections over the forthcoming week or so when Bank Holidays, like buses, will be arriving all at once.

Our Waste Collection contractor, SITA, will be working all Friday’s including Good Friday this week and the Royal Wedding Bank Holiday next Friday the 29th April.  There will be no collections on the Bank Holiday Monday’s : the 25th of April and the Monday the 2nd May, which is the May Bank Holiday.

In order that the collection rota does not fall behind, SITA will be working Saturday’s that is Saturday the 30th of April and Saturday the 7th May.  These details are already outlined on the collection calendars which have been distributed to every household( with the exception of the royal wedding arrangements)  and are publicised on our website.  However, I thought it would be useful for you to be appraised of this regime in any event.

With best wishes for Easter.

Grooming of white girls.

Police 'hid' abuse of 60 girls by Asian takeaway workers linked to murder of 14-year-old

At least 60 schoolgirls were groomed for sex by workers at seedy takeaways linked to the murder of a 14-year-old girl.
Children as young as 11 were targeted by mainly Asian staff at fast food outlets in Blackpool. They were offered food, alcohol and cigarettes in return for sexual favours.
An unpublicised police report produced after 14-year-old Charlene Downes vanished in 2003 found the girls, most if not all white, had been victims of the ‘honey pot’ premises. There were claims last night that the report was suppressed for reasons of political correctness.

Four years later another girl, 15-year-old Paige Chivers, also went missing. Detectives believe she was killed like Charlene, whose body has never been found.
Two Middle Eastern restaurant owners were acquitted over Charlene’s murder in 2007 and the crime remains unsolved.
The pair still run a kebab shop in Blackpool which was also linked to Paige, and she too was identified as a victim of sexual exploitation. Last year police reported that the takeaway was attracting young girls who were being supplied with alcohol and cocaine.

The revelations about the scale of grooming centred around the downmarket cafes comes amid growing concern at disturbing cases involving mainly Asian gangs exploiting young white girls for sex in the Midlands and North of England.
The girls, often from vulnerable homes or in the care system, were befriended by men who showered them with gifts and affection before using them for sex.
Former Home Secretary Jack Straw has said the girls were seen as ‘easy meat’, while David Cameron called on police to follow criminal acts ‘without fear or favour’ wherever the evidence leads.
The Home Office commissioned a nationwide investigation into the problem, which has long been considered taboo by police officers fearful of being branded racist.
Challenging the taboo
Indeed, a former senior detective at Lancashire Police yesterday blamed political correctness for its failure to highlight its 2003 findings in Blackpool.
But the force denied this, saying the report had been available online since 2007 but had never been intended for publication.
Senior officers insisted an intensive programme to break the cycle of exploitation had been a success and that in the last six months 50 of 54 grooming suspects were white.
Shocking claims made in court over Charlene’s murder revealed fears that her body had been put through a mincing machine, with takeaway staff said to have joked that her remains had ‘gone into the kebabs’.
A jury failed to reach a verdict on charges that Jordanian immigrant Iyad Albattikhi had murdered her while his Iranian landlord Mohammed Reveshi had disposed of her body.
A retrial collapsed in 2008 amid failings in the police investigation and the men were paid almost £250,000 each in compensation.
The kebab shop run by Mr Albattikhi and Mr Reveshi has changed its name from Funny Boyz to Mr Beanz. It was refused a hot food licence  last year amid fears about ‘sexual activity’ linked to the premises, but the pair blame a ‘police vendetta’ and have appealed.
Following Charlene’s disappearance in 2003, police found more than 60 girls were being groomed for sex by non-white men centred around 11 Blackpool takeaways.
They were mainly aged between 13 and 15, but some were as young as 11. Yesterday former Detective Superintendent Mick Gradwell warned that research into the problem was being hampered by ‘political correctness and concerns about upsetting community cohesion’.
But Lancashire police denied a cover-up. Assistant Chief Constable Andy Rhodes said his officers were making significant progress in tackling child sex exploitation across Lancashire, regardless of the background of the culprits.
He added: ‘We recognise that in some areas the number of Asian offenders is disproportionate to the population and far from ignoring this, have been tackling the issue head on by working with the local communities, giving presentations to community forums and visiting mosques to raise awareness.’
It was reported yesterday that while most British sex offenders are lone white men, details of court cases in 13 towns showed that out of 56 men convicted of multiple offences of grooming girls for sex, 50 were Muslim, mostly of Pakistani heritage.

£650M TO PAKISTAN.

Education Budget Slashed but ConDems Give £650m to Pakistani Schools

Dhimmi Dave Cameron is giving £650 million to fund Pakistani schools despite slashing England’s higher education budget by £449 million this year.

The move is being made by Cameron in order to make up for supposedly “offending” Muslims last year, when he accused Pakistan of “looking both ways” on terror.
The amount exceeds the previously promised doubling of British aid to Pakistan, which was already set to rise to £446 million a year, making the country the biggest beneficiary of British taxpayers.
Britain will have no control over which schools the money will go to, raising fears that it will be sent to madrasas to teach terrorist doctrines.
David Cameron defended the payments, saying it was “in our interest” to help Pakistan.
“If Pakistan is a success, we’ll have a good friend to trade and invest and deal with. If we fail, we’ll have all the problems of migration, of extremism, problems that we don’t want to see. So it’s in our interest that Pakistan succeeds,” he said, presumably suggesting that we are now somehow going to see a decrease in Pakistani immigration despite the Tories’ open-doors border policy.
Pakistan’s Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani said he believed a “root cause” of terrorism was illiteracy, rather than the extremist nature of Islam.
As well as the huge cash gift, Britain is also to give Pakistan highly sensitive technology to help combat roadside bombs to the Pakistani intelligence service (ISI), despite the widely held belief that they are funding and arming the Taliban.
Cameron will also be spending millions on a training centre for Pakistan’s soldiers and spies near Peshawar, a hotbed of militancy. The prime minister avoided questions asking whether he could guarantee that the technology wouldn’t be handed over to the Taliban by the ISI.
During his visit to an Islamabad university, Cameron compounded the situation by blaming Britain for the ongoing conflict between Pakistan and India. Speaking about the disputed Kashmir province, he said, “As with so many of the world’s problems, we are responsible for the issue in the first place.”
The news of the huge payment comes as it is revealed that more British universities intend to charge the maximum £9,000-a-year tuition fees in order to combat cuts in funding.
More than two-thirds of universities now setting fees for 2012 intend to charge a £9,000 flat rate for all courses. Most others, including some of the lowest-ranked universities in the country, want to charge undergraduates more than £8,000 per year.
The higher education budget is set so be slashed by a staggering 40 per cent over the next four years, which will see funding plummet from £7.1 billion to £4.2 billion, a third of the amount currently given away to other countries in foreign aid.

SKATEPARK GROUP ON TRACK

Just attended a meeting of the North Halifax Skatepark Group, of which i have been involved in since the first meeting last October. Tonight the constitution was formally adopted and four officers have been selected for the committee, this is great news and it now means we can start applying for funding, to give the youth of Illingworth, a skatepark they can be proud of. Cogratulations to all involved.

Bradshaw Tennis Courts

Last year Calderdale council stated that they would be putting new fencing around the Bradshaw tennis court's, and repairing the playing surface. This has not been done and i will be asking why not, for a town that has one of the highest obesity rates in the country and promotes healthy living, you would think, that  upgrading the excisting sports facility would be high on the agenda.

British National Party Candidates.

At next month's local elections, the Halifax branch of the British National Party will be fielding Six candidates. We will be standing in Illingworth & Mixenden ( Jane Shooter ), Ovenden ( Katie Gill ), Town ( Richard Armstrong ), Northowram & Shelf ( Simon Gill ), Sowerby Bridge ( Emma Haldenby ) and Warley ( Paul Wadsworth ). Good luck to these brave Nationalists, who are giving the electorate a real alternative to the other establishment parties.

BRADSHAW BOWLING GREEN

I was contacted by a member of Bradshaw bowling club the other week, and was asked if i could sort something out with Calderdale's Safer cleaner greener department, to get the green re-seeded. After many phone calls and e-mails, i am happy to say, that the work has been carried out and the green will be ready for Wednesday's first fixture of the season.
