Barnsley by-election

I spent the full day leafletting in Barnsley yesterday, on behalf of Enis Dalton, who is the candidate, for the Parliamentary by-election, which will take place this Thursday. It was great to see and meet Nationalists from all over the country, people had come to help from, Derby, Chester, Hartlepool, Newcastle and many other area's. At lunchtime we went and joined our two MEP'S, Nick Griffin and Andrew Brons at the Barnsley branch, town centre stall, which was very well recieved by the Barnsley public. Good luck on Thursday, Enis.

Abbey Park Clean Up

Despite yesterday's horrendous conditions, i and a few other British National Party members, still managed to turn out, as promised and clean up certain area's of the Abbey Park estate. As you can tell by the pic's, we had a lot to do, and in around 3 hours we collected over 400 bags of rubbish, and filled 3 large skips. A big thanks, to John, Michael, my wife Amanda and local resident Josh and his 2 mates. Many residents came out and thanked us, and we proved, that once again, when it comes to local grass roots action, there is nobody better, than the British National Party.

Skatepark For Illingworth

On Tuesday, i attended a meeting, to try set up a constituted group, that can then apply for external funding for a skatepark in Illingworth. I had arranged for council officers to attend and they in turn had invited members of the Hebden Bridge skatepark to attend and share their experience with the Illingworth youths. The meeting went really well, with enough adults coming forward to sign up, and become part of the skatepark groups committee. The council officers went away to look at possible sites and put a constitution together, which will be signed in 2 weeks time. I am really proud to have been part of this since the beginning, and now realise, that the hard work is just starting, thanks to everyone who turned up.

Full Council Meeting

On Wednesday night i attended the Town Hall for the full council meeting and voted against the Lib/Lab proposal, to change the access to care services eligibility criteria for adults, health and social care. The proposal means that our older folk will be charged an extra £50 per week. There will also be a 10% rise in charges for the meals on wheels service. If you have worked hard all your life and have savings of more than £23,250, you will be the hardest hit, i don't agree with this, so i voted against it. The vote however was won by the Lib/Lab coalition, because their joint number of councillors exceed myself, the Tories and the Independents. I also voted to take a 5% allowance cut, although 2 years ago when i seconded a motion to ask all councillors to take a 10% pay cut, i was out voted 41-4. What a difference being in a coalition council makes, eh.

Abbey Park clean up.

Just finished putting leaflets out for the Abbey Park clean up next Saturday. As you can see from some of the pictures, there will be a lot to do. I have ordered 3 skips, which we will no doubt fill, if you can spare some time, why not come along and help out, we are meeting at Illingworth Moor church at 12 noon.

British National Party MEP, visits Halifax.

Member of the european parliament, Andrew Brons, spent the day with myself and other local British National Party officials, on a tour of Halifax today. Andrew was elected in 2009 to represent the Yorkshire and Humber region. He was very interested in my work as the Illingworth & Mixenden councillor, and met a large number of residents as we walked the ward. I pointed out a number of things i have achieved on local folks behalf, and also showed him what plans i have for certain parts of the ward in the near future. Thanks, Andrew, for taking time out of your busy schedule and i hope to see you again soon.
